Senior Center Car Show We had a car show Saturday July 15, 2023, with the Palmer Senior Center “Cars & Crafts” Event. It was a nice event, but the rain put a little damper on everything. The event was from 10 – 4 and the car show ran from 11 – 3. Since it rained all day and not just overcast but rained the Senior center moved all the vendors into the dinning room and we were lucky to be able to stay warm and dry in the bad weather. Since it was raining we only had 10 vehicles attend. I don’t know why but for some reason I never got a picture of the cars in a line out side. Never entered my mind until I got home and was unloading the car. The cars that showed up were a 1969 Corvette, 1974 VW, 1969 el Camino, 51 Chevy, 21 Nissan, 99 Mercedes 68 Ford Terino, 34 Dodge, a Ford truck and a Jeep. The Nissan won 3rd place, the el Camino won 2nd place and the Terino won 1st place for the People’s Choice. All in all another nice day sitting around visiting with each other.

Received some very sad news yesterday after the car show. I heard from Suz Troutner that John had passed away that morning. I called her when I got home and asked if he had been sick for a while and she said no he got pneumonia, and it turned septic and that was the cause of his passing. I don’t have an address right now for anyone who wants to send a card but will get it. If you DM me, I will give you the phone number and email address if you don’t already have it. I am sure it would be a comfort for her to hear from everyone. They moved to Kentucky a few years ago and live close to their youngest son.

Had a really nice day today July 8th, 2023 at the Lowe’s Car Show in Wasilla.  Great turn out.  We had 48 registered vehicles and several that didn’t sign in.  I think maybe close to 60 showed up.  Our biggest car show so far this summer.  I try really hard to get people to at least register.  They don’t need to put a card in the window if they don’t want anyone to vote for them although they should because I always have people come to me wanting to vote for a specific car, but it has no number or tag on it for them to vote. I think for future shows when I say it cost nothing to show I will say but you must register.  It also helps for next year’s shows when I am trying to figure out supplies, I need for a show as to how many are going to possibly show up. It helps with our sponsorship too to let O’Reilly know how many vehicles participate in our shows.  The weather was really lovely.  Overcast so not to warm but NO Wind thankfully.  Alaska’s Best Gourmet Dogs was the food truck with their delicious dogs.  Our three trophy winners were 3rd Place 1974 VW Thing, first time at our show, 2nd Place was a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe, a new club member and 1st Place was 1968 Camaro RS. Lowe’s gave the three trophy winners $50.00 Gift Cards. I think everyone had a great day.

Had our annual car show yesterday Sunday July 2nd 2023 at Country Cutts.  Had a pretty large turnout even though the weather was VERY windy and overcast.  For the few seconds when the wind did stop it was really quite warm.  We had 46 Vehicles registered and there were several vehicles who came and went and didn’t sign in so I think all toll there were around 50 showing.  Exquisite Urban Taste and Crazy 4 Dayz were the food trucks that were there serving their tasty food. Stan gave away 5 trophies. Gent’s Choice was a 1960 Corvair, Ladies Choice was a 1953 Buick Roadmaster, Kids Choice was a 1929 Ford A (Spidey), Drivers Choice was 1968 Mustang California Special and the People’s Choice was a 1965 Chevy El Camino. Stan also had a drawing for several hundred dollars’ worth of $50.00 and $100.00 Chevron Gift Cards.  Good turn out and even though it was not a perfect summer day I think everyone who was there had a good time as usual.

Saturday June 24th, 2023, we had our second annual “Art Keller Memorial Car Show” at the Freedom Family Festival at the VFW in Eagle River. It turned out to be a beautiful day and there was no wind or rain so that was nice for a change this summer. Seems like the last few car shows have been really plagued by wind. We had around 33 vehicles show up and the winner of the plaque was a1968 Camaro RS. Beautiful Car. Here are a few pictures.
